Technology center DORNIER TRITOS® 3D Weaving System
The TRITOS® 3D weaving system can be used to produce three-dimensional fabric structures and multi-layered textiles – ideal for demanding applications such as in aerospace and aviation. The production line combines various modules to create an efficient technology system that produces high-performance textile fabrics.
What is so special about the DORNIER TRITOS® 3D Weaving System?
Information
Three-dimensional weaving
The TRITOS® system produces 3D and multilayer fabrics – i.e. fabric structures that are woven together not only in length and width, but also in thickness. These fabrics are particularly robust because, unlike other multi-layer composite products, they are tightly woven together.
Fabrics that cannot be rolled
The fabric in this system is so thick and dimensionally stable that it cannot be wound up as usual. Instead, it is taken off continuously and horizontally aligned using a special Horizontal Fabric Take-off (HTO).
100 mm thick and still fast
The fabric can be moved up and down using the Electronic Fabric Guide (EFG). This means that the rapier (weft insertion) always remains at the same height, as the EFG can be used to adjust the position of the fabric. This allows fabrics up to 10 centimetres thick to be produced at high speed – a real challenge for conventional weaving technology.
Saving material with a system
The integrated DORNIER Weft Saver (DWS) ensures that hardly any waste is produced during weft insertion – this makes the system particularly efficient when handling expensive high-performance fibers such as carbon or glass fiber.
